Meadow core

Perennial herbaceous plant with a short rhizome and a straight stem 15-30 cm tall. The leaves are pinnatipartite, basal, arranged in a rosette, the stem leaves are short-petiolate, with linear-oblong entire leaflets. The flowers are white or lilac with a four-petaled corolla, collected in a brush at the top of the stem. Blooms in May-June. Good honey plant. The fruits are linear pods.

Distributed in the forest zone, mountain forest belt throughout Siberia and the Far East, the European part of Russia. It grows along the damp banks of rivers and lakes, in marshy and floodplain meadows, along mountain springs.

Medicinal raw materials are the tops of stems with flowers. The raw material contains a large amount of ascorbic acid.

Infusion of herbs is used as an antiscorbutic, diuretic, choleretic and anticonvulsant. It is drunk for dropsy, jaundice, nervous convulsions and bouts of hysteria.

Application

Infusion: 1 tbsp. a spoonful of fresh grass is poured with a glass of boiling water, insisted for 2 hours, filtered and taken a quarter cup 3-4 times every day.

Young plants, collected in May – the first rug of June, are eaten as a spring vitamin salad, which has a pleasant, slightly bitter taste. The leaves are used as a seasoning for soups.
