COLLECTION AND DRYING OF RAW MATERIALS

Goutweed (Aegopodium podagraria L.) For medicinal purposes, common goutweed leaves are used, which are harvested during mass flowering. Dried in the shade under awnings, in dryers at a temperature of 35-40°C. The shelf life of raw materials is 2 years.

PHARMACOLOGICAL PROPERTIES

The plant has a diuretic, anti-inflammatory, analgesic, vitamin effect; improves digestion.

APPLICATIONS IN MEDICINE

Aboveground part. In folk medicine, infusion – for rheumatism, gout, gastrointestinal diseases, diseases of the kidneys and bladder. Juice (inside) – for gastrointestinal diseases, diseases of the kidneys and bladder, respiratory tract, dizziness; as a detoxifying, diuretic and emollient; externally – for rheumatism, for analgesic compresses for gout, erysipelas, exudative diathesis, all kinds of inflammatory processes. The plant is used in homeopathy. In Poland, the plant is used – for rheumatism, diseases of the digestive tract, respiratory tract, gout, arthritis, as a detoxifier. Leaves. Anti-inflammatory, emollient, diuretic, wound healing; fresh – pain reliever. In Abkhazia – with erysipelas, exudative diathesis.

DOSAGE FORMS, METHOD OF APPLICATION AND DOSES

♦ Infusion of herb goutweed: 15 g of raw material is poured into 400 ml of boiling water, infused for 2 hours, then filtered. Take 1/2 cup 4 times every day. ♦ Goutweed juice: squeezed from the aerial parts of young plants. Take 1/4-1/3 cup with a tablespoon of honey.

APPLICATIONS IN OTHER FIELDS

Young leaves are eaten, salad, for cabbage soup, side dishes, sauces, seasonings for meat and fish dishes are prepared from them. Leaves are laid over vegetables to give a peculiar smell. Petioles of leaves are marinated for the future, and in winter caviar is prepared from them like squash or eggplant. Snyt is a favorite vegetable plant of the Bashkirs, Tatars, Chuvashs, Mordovians, etc. The plant enriches products with vitamins, microelements and other biologically active substances, improves taste. Dyes fabrics yellow and green. Eaten by livestock, suitable for fodder silage. Honey plant, provides bees with an early bribe. By honey content it is equivalent to Ivan-tea.
